Dig In, And Double Down

I will be happy to take a cue from my other half on this issue. But, whereas he enjoys beating on the senators, I appeal to the voters. Thomas is right. Now is the time to jettison these people from our party. It is not that I am not "inclusive". I am. Thomas and I argued over his assisted suicide post. I did not agree with him. In my humble opinion, if someone wishes to remove themselves from existence, it is not our duty to prevent them from doing so. It would be better off without them. But, that would be a thought exclusive to myself, rather than he.
Needless to say, his wisdom and knowledge showed me that I was wrong in that respect.

But that is another matter for another day. The point is that we do have our occasional disagreements; despite the contrary that is believed, we do not always see eye-to-eye on everything. We do, however, on the blunder perpetuated by the Republicans last night. And believe me when I say that this deal was a screw-up of Biblical proportions.

In exchange for three—count them THREE—nominees, the Republicans threw the rest of the president’s nominees overboard. Now I do have a level of distaste for Sen. Frist. Why? Were these seven Republicans leaders in the party? No. Where did they have the authority to conduct such negotiations on behalf of the Republicans? I can find none, and Frist offers none. So, why were they even talking to the enemy?

Oh, I am sorry, did I just offend a few people with that? I apologize, but these are not your mother and father’s Democrats. Nor are they the Republicans we believed we were putting in office. These people are hard Leftists that deserve the title of "traitor" in this nation. They would sell this nation down the river in the name of the United Nations, and their peculiar liberal experiments when it comes to our society. Remember that these people have nothing but disdain for us over what we believe; beliefs I point out that are embedded within the nation’s founding documents.

And the Left hates them. We are called the "religious right" because we believe in a higher being than ourselves, and we hold true to our conservative roots. I can only speak from my own experiences, as limited as they are. I am a perennial newcomer in this world of politics, and the medium of blogging. But I do know that I will never turn from my roots, and those include the very beliefs and hopes our Founding Fathers had for this nation. Despite the hell this nation has devolved into, I still hold out hope. Call it the naiveté of an eighteen year old young lady, but I refuse to give it up.

And now is the time that we all dig deep for those beliefs, and hold them up to share the light that shall drive the Left back; this nation is conservative at it’s heart, and no amount of liberal psycho-babble or experimentation can change that. We still desire freedom from intrusion by our government, less taxes, better schools, and a nearly-strict adherence to the Constitution. Those on the Left, including these RINOs do not.

They would rather toss the Constitution aside, and opt to let activist judges determine "what is and what is not" within it. I choose differently, as I am studying law. Like Thomas, I am focusing on the Constitution in my studies. It is my primary goal to restore what has been torn asunder, and the Left has done a thorough job on our Constitution. But this is where the line needs to be drawn.
So, we go back to work. With 2006 right around the corner, it is necessary to keep others abreast of the actions of these seven people.
Some are up for reelection in 2006, and others are seeking higher office in 2008. John McCain is finished; I will let you all know that Thomas is gearing up to take him down before the primaries arrive. At the very least he wants him "damaged goods" before the primary race heats up. McCain goes down, plain and simple.

Snowe and Chafee are up for reelection, and both of us have pledged to help their opponents in the primaries as best we can—even if it means campaigning for their opponents in their respective states. Graham may be moving himself for a shot at a Vice-presidential nomination. It does not matter as he will be beat to hell before it reaches that stage. The others are insignificant. Warner, the old bat—much like Byrd—just wants to be remembered. For him, it is all based on his ego.

He will be a footnote in history. I hope he is aware of that. Because the Constitutional Option did not go ahead as planned, he and the other six are barely worthy of such a note in a history textbook. They were not bold. They were not brave. They dug the knife deep in the back of the party, and sold their souls for the accolades and applause of people that could care less about them. It is tough to understand, but that is how the Democrats and the media work. "Here today, and gone tomorrow." And tomorrow, the media will find another "maverick" to hang it’s sagging hat upon. Again, a sad fact of life, but one that demands mentioning.

But yes, to reclaim our party these people need to be shown the door. I would prefer it happen the way it did for Sen. Daschle, but I will take it anyway it comes. It is time for this party to move forward, and it is time for them to seize the destiny that was laid at their feet in 2004. We have the majority, and it is time to start acting like we do have one; this is not a time for the spineless. Our country depends on strong leadership. The president has shown a good deal of it, and I am positive that he expects the same from his party.

We watched the Democrats control this nation for over forty years in Congress. One would have thought that the Republicans had taken notes. It is their loss if they did not. The public has, and we are not pleased with this travesty arising from within our own party. If these people will not lead—if they have abandoned their ideals for accolades—then they shall be swept aside in favor of those that do share our ideals.

Let it be known, henceforth, that anyone within our party that stands opposed to the ideology that we believe in—the ideology that they claim they believe in—will be removed from our daily political lexicon. They do not exist, nor does their moderate ideology. As Thomas stated, moderation is welcome when it serves the greater good. When it differs from the mainstream—when they disregard those that put them in power—it is time to dig in, double down, and clean house.

The Bunny ;)
