Defending The Defenders When They Need It Most: The Return Of A Good Marine

I am on my way out the door, and heading for the bookstore. I want this book which was written by retired 2nd Lieutenant Ilario Pantano. We should all remember this incident back when it started to occur. Lt. Pantano shot two Iraqis that had been detained by Marines. He claimed his men were in danger, yet the ordeal that followed the shooting was enough to drive him to resign despite being exonerated.
Since then he and his family have received death threats from the Islamofascists, and prompted the Marines to place guards around their house to protect them. But as Michelle states in her post, this book is finely written, and gives everyone a glimpse inside the PC-like military now, and how they take every step possible to avoid running afoul of either some tin-horn, status-quo loving politico in the Congress, or some rabid, numb-from-the-brain-down journalist with an ax to grind. And that says nothing about the barking moonbat nuts in the nation that even after his exoneration still refer to this honorable man as a murderer.
And I am ashamed of those people. These men and women risk their lives everyday. A war zone is no place for people who fear to tread where angels never dare. They are not doing it for any of the reasons the moonbat Left keep barking about. They do it because they have been ordered to do so, and it is their job to protectr this nation. Lt. Pantano understands that, as do the vast majority of troops abroad right now. They do not like being away from their families anymore than he did, but they do have a job to do. And he does now, as well.
He is defending the defenders, as his mother did for him. Our job, as citizens, should be as Michelle has prompted: Go make this book a #1 bestseller. That is precisely what I intend to do right now.

ADDENDUM: As I was about to leave, I noticed that we have another defender of Marines, on this one is taking the media to task over Haditha. Guest/co-blogger extraordinaire at Hugh Hewitt, Mary Katherine Ham points to her new column up at TownHall.com where she rips the media for their coverage of Haditha. She also points out that the media's hype regarding this incident has been totally unfounded as they keep changing the way that it is being reported. As of right now, they are in "backtrack" mode.
