Can Europe Explain This From Iran?
(Cross-posted at our new site)
Last week the French praised Iran. The French foreign Minister, Dominique de Villepin called Iran a "stabilizing force" in the region. Now I wonder what Mr. de Villepin has to say about this speech given by Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei:
(Hat-Tip: Hugh Hewitt)
In his message to the World of Islam, the Supreme Leader said, "The events in Lebanon have exposed the true nature of American human rights, and have revealed the kind of Middle East the American government intends to have." The following is the full text of the message sent by the Supreme Leader to the world of Islam:
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate "The tragic disaster in Qana has made our hearts sated with pain and grief. It has made us and other Muslims as well as all freedom-loving peoples of the world grief-stricken and angry.
"Why and for what reason the lives of those innocent children, those fragile and exhausted bodies, and the small and frightened hearts ended in such a cruel manner? "Why were the distressed hearts of their mothers and fathers so cruelly wounded by the bloodthirsty Zionists and their bigheaded and arrogant American supporters? "What is the logic and rationale behind twenty days of relentless bombing of Lebanon, twenty days of atrocities on a massive scale, destruction of nation and killing of its civilian population, and the disaster such as the massacre in Qana, to make the world that claims to be civilized, the United Nations, governments and organizations that profess to be advocates of human rights to remain callously cold and uninterested? "How long should the Islamic world tolerate existence of the scheming and evil Zionist regime? How long should the Islamic government allow aggressive and arrogant America to have a free hand in this sensitive part of the world? "The events in Lebanon have exposed the true nature of American human rights and have revealed the kind of Middle East the American government intends to have.
Did everyone catch all of that? Do we see where the Iranian Ayatollah lays the blame for the Hezbollah started war? Do we see the rhetoric directed at the United States and Israel? These are people who do not desire peaceful relations with the West--allowing the West to go its own way. This is a nation that is incensed and infuriated that we and Israel exist. They are even more upset at the fact that Israel has been allowed to defend itself. How long should the Islamic world tolerate Israel's existence, he demands. Well, for the civilized, we "tolerate" a whole host of people. We even tolerate militant Muslims stuck int he Seventh Century that are driven and twisted by an ages-old animosity that I doubt most of their people truly understand. Biblically speaking, this fight goes back to Isaac and Ishmael. But, as the centuries have worn on, the hate has been honed, and it has festered. And in Iran it has become a murderous ideology that rivals only Nazi's twisted, anti-Semitic beliefs.
"Today it has become clear to all that attack on Lebanon was premediated and part of a joint American-Zionist stratagem and is a major step toward domination over the Middle East and the Islamic World.
The only premeditation that any common sense individual sees is the one where Hezbollah decided it could start this war. Iran, like the rest of the anti-Semites around the world, is trying to spin this as though Hezbollah is the innocent victim in all of this. They were the ones who crossed the Israeli border, attacked an IDF outpost, killed eight soldiers, and kidnapped two others. Maybe in the twisted ideology of hate these fools preach that is not provocation, but the civilized world sees it as precisely that. That such actions can be, have been, and should be construed as acts of war. And I have no idea what "strategem" the Ayatollah is referring to. The last thing the United States wanted to do was expand its fronts in this war. Not at this time. With two years left to go before President Bush leaves office, and no distinct, clear-cut edge to the GOP maintaining the White House, an expansion in our war could be disastrous. If the "retreat-and-defeat" Democrats take the White House, this war will be over quicker than I can swim the 200m freestyle.
"Bush and his American cohorts share the same degree of guilt in the disasters brought upon Lebanon as the evil and wicked Zionist regime. And the silence of the United Nations and many of the western governments and above all the support by some governments, such as the notorious British government, make them accountable and partners in crime in varying degrees in contemporary and future judgment of humanity and in the day of reckoning and divine judgment day.
This is a key paragraph because it shows, to a point, that the Ayatollah may share the same beliefs as President Ahmadinejad. The 12th Imam prophecy that Ahmadinejad has may be more prevalent with the mullahs than imagined. We know that the mullahs in Iran, in the past, have tried to stay away from such rhetoric, but this shows that they may be behind it. That they may share the fervent belief even more than Ahmadinejad himself does. And it shows that these people are driven solely by their ideological hatred of the Jews (which they see as their eternal enemy), and the western nations of the world who believe in and embrace a level of freedom that is foreign to these mad religious leaders. All in all, it is worth reminding people that in the end, these clerics wish to create a worldwide caliphate where they dole out the freedom, and in accordance with strict sharia law.
"More than ever before the Muslim nations loathe America. Their governments, even those that are constrained because of political considerations, loathe and oppose the American government because of so much outrageous and arrogant aggressions. The American regime must expect a hard slap on the face and the crushing fist of Muslim ummah because of its support for the crimes and the Zionist criminals and its blatant violation of the rights of Muslim nations.
A blatant violation of rights? Have they not seen that we have given both Iraq and Afghanistan the right to create whatever sort of society they desire. The president himself has declared that whatever path Iraq chooses, provided it is not one violent to the West, is their path. It will be in step with their new democratic society. If they choose to operate as a Muslim nation, with Muslim laws, then we will not interfere. Again, that is on the condition that we are not their enemies, and that they will show tolerance to the world around them.
"The resistance of the people of Lebanon and the heroic struggles of Hizbollah and power arising from their faith, endurance and trust in God is another sign of awakening in the Islamic world and a mark of their firm resolve against animosities and hostilities. The iron fist of the faithful, brave and innocent youth of Lebanon has landed on the hideous face of the aggressors and has broken the glassy shield of their conceited and drunken vanity.
The Muslim world--the Islamofascists in this war--have embraced their animosities, and resorted to hostility. No longer able to embrace a world full of tolerant diversity, these people have resorted to the teachings of a blood-thirsty religious leader of old, and are dead-set on a path that will lead them to all-out war. It is Iran that is working towards nuclear weapons; weapons that they will, no doubt, attempt to hold the region, and the world in general, hostage. "Do as we say, or your cities will burn in a holy fire," willbe the command from regimes like that in Iran. Animosty and hostility are the norms in nations like Iran and Syria. Nations like Iran, since 1979, have never been friendly to the West. They dislike our society for the freedoms people have. They hate the Jews because of the Biblical struggle between both relions; both cultures. Iran cannot revise how this war started. The facts are clearly on the table.
"The strategic policy of America in the Middle East is premised upon creating crisis, tension and wars. They must understand that as they expand the circle of insecurity in the region, the nations will become angrier at them and the world will be less safe for them.
Again, the gauntlet is thrown down. As it was before when Ahmadinejad sent the warning to President Bush. The warning, "Vasalam Ala Man Ataba'al hoda," is literally translated as "Peace be to the one who follows the right/true path." The right and true path that is being spoken of is, of course, Islam. The warning is a chance for the United States to "repent and convert." This follows that same path that Mohammed took when he led the Muslims in 622 to begin their ideology of intolerance, abhorance to anything contrary to the Koran and Mohammed's teachings, and a deep-seeded hatred for any nation that was not Muslim. This paragraph above serves as yet another warning to the West that its own day of reckoning will come as soon as Iran is ready to deal the blow. It is, as the end of the letter to President Bush (the Persain and translation above) was, a declaration of war against the West. Angela Merkel and Jacques Chirac have both received letters from Ahmadinejad, and while their text is still unreleased to the public (they should be released) I am sure that the language in closing is very similar, if not precisely the same.
The aggressive behavior of American and Israel will revitalize more than ever the spirit of resistance in the Islamic world and will make clearer the value of Jihad.
"The Islamic world and the Muslim youth in all Islamic nations should also realize that the only way to stand against the savage Wolf of Zionism and the aggressions of the Great Satan is by dedicated resistance.
This is the call to all the Islamic faithful to fight against Israel and the United States. The "dedicated resistance" the Ayatollah is referring to is jihad; a holy war against the enemies of Islam. But it is not simply a war to destroy our nations and societies. It is a war to eradicate Judaism and Christianity from the world. The United States stands as a symbol of religious inclusion and tolerance. ALL religions are welcome within the United States. (That is, of course, within reason. No religion, to my knowledge, that calls for the knowing and willing violation of the law, i.e. human sacrifices, are welcome.) Similarly, Israel stands as the lone stronghold to protec tthe Jewish people. Establish through the United Nations in 1948, the Jews were granted their homeland to prevent a repeat of the Holocaust (yes, the same one that ahmadinejad and the mad mullahs of Iran deny).
"Surrender and capitulation before the reckless and scheming American government will only add to their greed and blatant defiance and make things harder for the nations.
Here is a line that is virtually indistinguishable from any of the anti-Bush rhetoric emanating fromt he Left. And I honestly would not be surprised to see part of this end up as a talking point amongst the moonbat fringe, and nations in Europe (France, for one) when they attack the United States for what they perceive as "unilateral" "imperialsim."
"If Lebanon had caved in and surrendered to the aggressions of the Zionists, and if the combatant youth of Hizbullah and the innocent people of southern Lebanon had chosen not to put their lives on the line in this sacred defense, long-lasting humiliation and suffering would have threatened the entire nation of Lebanon and rest of the region would have been embroiled as part of the aftermath of these aggressive attacks.
United Nations Resolution1559 ordered that Hezbollah was supposed to have disarmed. This came on the heels of the Cedar Revolution where the Lebanese people protested against the Syrian regime running their nation. This protest was not only against Syria, but it was in opposition to Hezbollah, as well. Again, a revision of history will not help the Ayatollah's case when a good majority of people know what Hezbollah has done, and what they are capable of doing if left intact. Israel--Ehud Olmert--has stated that they could live with a disarmed, politically-motivated Hezbollah. The problem with such an idea (which is why we do agree with Yoni, at times, that Olmert is more a fool than a leader) is that you have basiucally allowed them to create a sort of Nazi-like party in Lebanon, as Hitler did with national socialism in Germany.
"Today Hizbullah is on the frontline of the sacred defense of the Muslim ummah and all nations of the region.
"To the Zionist enemy, religion, faith, mosque, church, Shiite and Sunnis make no difference. It is a racist, aggressor and brutal regime. If it sees anything on its way, it will spare no crime and show no mercy toward any group or nations. The nations of the region, all Islamic sects and followers of different faiths in Lebanon and in all Islamic countries must join hands and not allow their division to be a source of strength for the enemy.
Another verbal attack--an out-and-out slander--on Israel, and it is followed up by a call to the nations of the region to take up the sword, and fight Israel. I believe this is an attempt to incite the other nations to do what they have tried before, which is to open up a multi-front war on Israel. None of the ones fromt he past has worked yet, so I fail to see where this one would succeed. If more nations enter the fray, Israel will only dig in harder and deeper, and drop the limitations they have put on themsleves in waging this war. People are crying now over 500 dead Lebanese civilians.(That figure that is as questionable as the 100,00 dead civilians in Iraq, and one that is disputable based on some fine blogging investigations conducted by Confederate Yankee that asks is the bomb victims were true, or part of an elaborate hoax.) But if they would prefer to see more deaths, then by all means, join the fight openly instead of relying on proxies.
"The Islamic Iran regards it its duty to stand against bullying and aggressions of America and the evil designs of the Zionist regime. We will stand by all oppressed nations, especially the beloved people of Lebanon and the combatant nation of Palestine.
"America is practically a partner in the heinous crimes committed in Lebanon by its open support for the killing of civilian population of Lebanon, opposition to ceasefire and by providing armaments, financial assistance and political support to the Zionist aggressors. It is now intending to impose added tyranny on the people and government of Lebanon by imposing its own conditions.
"Without any doubt, the resistant nations and those brave combatants will not succumb to this tyranny and will choose their way only on the basis of their interests.
"I offer my condolences to the dear people, the tireless mojaheds and the political leadership of Lebanon on the sufferings brought upon the people, specially the great disaster on Qana, and declare the sympathy of the great Iranian nation with them.
"Greetings to the people of Lebanon, salutation to the victorious Hizbollah, and hail to the brave and faithful Arab leader, Seyed Hassan Nasrollah.
No offense, but this address was filled with enough hate and vitriol to wear out even the most vehement moonbat. And likely such rhetoric will only reinforce those people here who are willing to excuse Iran and Hezbollah. Apologists are always available for these people, and it is sickening. But this address should serve as a warning to the West that Iran is not backing down. In fact they are calling for an escalation in the Israeli/Hezbollah war. Furthermore, they are calling on their followers to go after the United States. This is no longer a game for the diplomats and the politicians. Iran is deadly serious, and the Ayatollah did a fine job of reminding the world where it stands in Iran's book. It is not a pleasant place to be, but to avoid the domination of an Islamofascist state like Iran, support for Israel cannot waver in the United States or in Britain.
Victory is only achieved when one's enemy is destroyed, and no longer a threat. Israel is doing the world a favor by going after Hezbollah. But as we have stated before, if the heat is too much for Hezbollah, they are masters of their own fates. Give back the soldiers, disarm, and allow an international force along the Lebanese/Israeli border to avoid this ever happening again.
