A Wish To One And All
"And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the fields, keeping watch over their flocks by night. And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the lord shone round about them, and they were afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not, for behold, I bring unto you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you this day is born in the City of Bethlehem, a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; you shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel, a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God, and saying, 'Glory to God in the highest, and on Earth peace, good will toward men'".
We often forget the true meaning of Christmas at this time of year. We are bundled up in the hustle and bustle. We search in vain for the perfect gift. And we tend to forget what the "perfect" gift truly was.
It is not the Tickle-Me Elmos. It's not an XBox 360. It is not even diamonds and jewlery for our wives, husbands, girlfriends, or boyfriends. It has nothing to do with what we give, but rather that we do give of ourselves to others who have little or none. For this time of the season is when we should remember those that are down on their luck, without hope.
For God so loved the world he gave his only begotten Son to this world for it's salvation. This time of the year we'd be wise to remember that. Especially in this insane, upside-down world we live in where all hope appears to be lost in the depths of greed. God didn't put Christ on this earth in vain; He sent Him here to be our salvation. This time of the year we should give thanks to God for his sacrifice, and we should give thanks for our lives as they are. They may not always be as we wish them to be, but it is our life, and without Him, it's meaningless.
So, enjoy the holidays. Eat, drink, and be merry. Cling tight to your family and friends, and may the blessings of God Almighty be upon each and every one of you. To all of our friends and family, to those young and old, to our readers, and their families, we wish you all a safe and Merry Christmas.
