Two Can Play This Game...
Okay, he broke the rules, and now I am following up. He posted lyrics on a day that is not designated for such. So, I, too, will break the rules. His was not country, as he admitted, but mine is.
My dad chased monsters from the dark
He checked underneath my bed
An he could lift me with one arm
Way up over top of his head
He could loosen rusty bolts
With a quick turn of his wrist
He pulled splinters from his hand
And never even flinched
In thirteen years I'd never seen him cry
But the day that grandpa died,
I realized
Unsinkable ships sink
Unbreakable walls break
Sometimes the things you think could never happen
Happens just like that
Unbendable steel bends
If the fury of the wind is unstoppable
I've learned to never underestimate
The impossible....
And then there was my junior year
Billy had a brand new car
It was late,
the road was wet
I guess the curves was just too sharp
I walked away without a scratch
They brought the helicopter in
And Billy couldn't feel his legs
Said he'd never walk again
But Billy said he would and his mom and daddy prayed
And the day we graduated,
he stood up to say:
Unsinkable ships sink
Unbreakable walls break
Sometimes the things you think could never happen
Happens just like that
Unbendable steel bends
If the fury of the wind is unstoppable
I've learned to never underestimate
The impossible
So don't tell me that it's over
Don't give up on you and me
'Cos there's no such thing as hopeless
If you believe:
Unsinkable ships sink
Unbreakable walls break
Sometimes the things you think could never happen
Happens just like that
Unbendable steel bends
If the fury of the wind is unstoppable
I've learned to never underestimate
The impossible
We both thought we could not get to where we are. I, too have learned to never underestimate what I deemed impossible. Chalk it up to my pessimism, but in my life, it is to be expected. I have had my share of disappointments. I am sure I am set up for more in my life; a fact which I approach with eyes wide open. However, on this night, I disavow the impossible.
I never thought I would make it through my first semester in college, and I never thought WE would pull this site off. I figured we would be back to where we started within a matter of weeks. After Thomas' garbage regarding AOL and their TOS stipulations I realized there was no going back. Again, a lesson from Thomas: "There is no going back; there is only what is on the horizon, and what is conquered."
Words to the wise, indeed. And people call me smart...
