The Scream Machine Is On The Loose

A wise man once said that "sometimes, you just gotta laugh." With Howard Dean at the helm of the DNC, we have plenty of laughs. This is the same guy that stated that he hated Republicans. The same man that demanded to know where Saddam Hussein was exactly one day before we found him in his hidey-hole. He has called his ideological opposites evil and crooked. So, what can the "Mad How" add to his repertoire of gaffes? (Hat-Tip: Captain's Quarters)

Howard Dean, the Democratic National Committee chairman who was the hero of his party's anti-war wing before his gaffe-prone 2004 presidential candidacy crashed and burned in Iowa, still doesn't think the Iraqis are better off with dictator Saddam Hussein out of power and in prison.

Appearing on CBS' "Face the Nation" yesterday, the fiery former Vermont governor said, "It looks like today, and this could change, as of today it looks like women will be worse off in Iraq than they were when Saddam Hussein was president of Iraq."

Mr. Dean was the guy who said right after Saddam was found hiding in a "spider hole" that his capture by U.S. troops "has not made America safer," a statement ridiculed and condemned by most of his Democratic rivals at the time.

In a brief statement yesterday, the Republican National Committee said, "Dean's wild assertion that Iraqi women would be better off living under Saddam Hussein than democracy is not only counterproductive to meaningful debate, it demeans the hard work of American servicemen and women serving in Iraq."

At least he stated that "this could change," but they were treated better under the Hussein regime than they are right now. What the hell is this guy talking about? Women in Iraq, prior to the invasions suffered at the whims of Uday And Qusay Hussein—Iraq’s favorite rapists and murderers. There are numerous accounts of men being forced to watch the torture and rape of their wives while being interrogated themselves in one of Saddam’s "palatial" prisons. God forbid a woman be seen on the street without a male escort, she might not make it through the day without being killed or beaten.

Today in Iraq, women walk the streets as a free citizen of Iraq. They are going to school. They can go to markets and stores without a male with them, and are perfectly safe. People aren’t stoning them. They’re not attacking them. Iraq is free, and the citizens reflect this. The pap coming from the MSM, the DNC, and other port-side groups are lies and half-truths. They wave every dead soldier as though it were a war banner, and refuse to acknowledge the good that has happened in Iraq.

Which brings me to another thing. Recently, I ventured back into an old chat room I used to frequent regularly. I left it for a number of reasons, but wanted to stop in and say hi to a few friends. I ended up getting into an argument with one of them when they demanded to know how I knew so much about what was going on over in Iraq if I hadn’t been there as a civilian contractor or a soldier. Simple. I read the milblogs. I listen to the briefings given by the DoD. I watch the committee hearings where the senior brass is grilled—rather impolitely, I might add—by a group of fat-cat politicians. I do more research in one day than most do in a week. In short, I’m not dumb, I’m sharper than my ideological opponents, and I’m not lazy. If I want the answers to questions, I’m going to go look for it.

Needless to say, after that exchange, I’m not going back. I’ll stay right here in the blogosphere.

But that is the overall point. Even a few conservatives are buying the port-side line, to a point. They are the ones that concede in a debate that, "Yes, things are not going well in Iraq." I don’t concede that point. Things are going fine. Sure, we are still being shot at; DUH! There are still terrorists in Iraq that are refusing to give up. So there is only one solution for those people: Annihilate them. Give no quarter and show no mercy. But port-side mouth-pieces like "Mad How" are perpetuating the myths of the MoveOn.org crowd, and they are screaming to high heaven attempting to drown us out.

And it doesn’t help our side when we get the "Tancerdo-ites" claiming that it’s just about time to nuke Mecca and Medina. For those that have zero clue about military strategy, let me spell this out. To bomb a religious site such as either of those would be a disaster. First, you will alienate 1.2 billion Muslims across the globe, and flood the ranks of the terrorists with new volunteers. Second, India and Pakistan, which are predominantly Muslim nations, are members of the "Nuclear Club." That being, they possess nuclear weapons. Would they stand idly by as the US nukes Mecca? I doubt it. The military knows the capability of these two nations, and have stated that, yes, either one could reach the West Coast of the United States.

It’s time for the "Tancredo-ite" armchair generals to hush up and let the war be run by the professionals in the field. It’s also time for "Mad How" to get booted from the DNC. He’s been given more strikes Lawrence Taylor and his coke habit. People don’t want to be around Dean. Democrat governors have refused to meet with the man. Terry McAuliffe was never treated like that. You have his own party telling him to shut up. Babs Boxer has told him to "cool it." Kerry has told him to tone down his rhetoric. Slow Joe Biden has stated that he’s embarrassed by Dean and his antics.

It’s time for the DNC to throw this guy overboard.
