The Asylum

Welcome to the Asylum. This is a site devoted to politics and current events in America, and around the globe. The THREE lunatics posting here are unabashed conservatives that go after the liberal lies and deceit prevalent in the debate of the day. We'd like to add that the views expressed here do not reflect the views of other inmates, nor were any inmates harmed in the creation of this site.

Happy New Year

(Scroll past this entry for any of today's blogging updates. This will stay at the top of the page today so everyone can follow the link to our guest column.)

I do hope all of our friends and readers had a safe and sane Happy New Year. As this is the first of the month, our new column is up at CommonConservative.com. This is our usual monthly collaborative of Marcie and I going over the big news stories of December. The reason we started these columns (they were a regular feature here, but now they're over at Mr. Lindaman's site) was to remind people of what has happened. And we encourage our readers to read as many of the columns up there as you can. Ours, and the ones you'll see there, are up until midnight on the 15th. These are good writers with a sound head on their shoulders.

All too often, especially in our line of work, people complain that they've forgotten about things that have happened. This year, we can't afford to do that. We're going into the mid-terms. We have readers all over the country. Hell, we've gotten e-mails from people abroad, including soldiers, that like the site. The site is never anything we'll hold up against others. We know we have some work to do on it still, but the reason people come here is for the content. If you wanted flashy, you'd head to a porn site or a games site.

People frequent the Asylum for the stories we dig up, and the commentary we offer. We're not the best in the business, but if nothing else, we make you think. We abide by a simple saying here:

"If you're not pissed off, then you're not paying attention."

All we want is for people to pay attention. We spend too little time watching our politicians and our political system. We need to keep an eye on these people. It is a natural feeling to be distrustful of the government. It is, after all, the government. These are the people who think they're in charge, and like to run roughshod over us. They've forgotten who gives them their power. The people do. So, keep that in mind when you're listening to these blowhards this year "pontificating" about what good they've done in DC. Then, ask yourself what good it does for us when they obstruct the president. I'm sure you'll dislike the answer as much as we do.

Keep an eye on the site this year. We're going into fullelection mode here. We'll keep you as updated as possible about key races going on. (For those in Maine, Ohio, and Rhode Island: By all God's means get rid of Olympia Snowe, Mike DeWine, and Lincoln Chafee, respectively. These people are about as bright as a burned-out lightbulb, and they're causing a lot of the problems on the GOP side. Please, get rid of these knuckleheads.)

Happy New Year! I'm relying on you for most of the 2006 election news with every member of the House and one-third of the Senate seats are up for grabs. I'm interested in the open seats and the others that will have serious challenges. And we have the Alito committee hearing and the vote by the full senate. I predict a landslide for him. Then we have the Leak case that will produce mostly speculation including my list of suspects that are presumed to innocent. LOL. And the Patriot Act will be back on the Table. When I'm evaluating the news especially statements I'm going to be guided by, "What's the Motive." Rawriter
