... Oops, We Forgot The Hors D' Oeuvres ...

Yes, today's menu is varied, but we should never forget the crow the MSM is eating this morning. Most likely stewed crow as the MSM is still stewing over the Cheney hunting accident, appropriately named "Shotgungate" by Hugh Hewitt. MSNBC has the story, and below are excerpts from the story. (Thank God this comes from an AP wire report rather than David Gregory; I don't think we could handle another tantrum from the petulant reporter.)

The lawyer accidentally shot by Vice President Dick Cheney during a hunting trip was being discharged from a hospital on Friday and told reporters he was sorry for all the trouble Cheney had faced over the past week.

Harry Whittington, wearing a suit and tie, gave a brief statement and didn’t take questions. His voice was a bit raspy, but strong, and he had what appeared to be a line of scarring on his upper right eyelid and scrapes on his neck.

“We all assume certain risks in what we do, in what activities we pursue,” the 78-year-old Austin attorney said in a brief statement that also included praise for his doctors. “Accidents do and will happen.”

Whittington was hit in the face, neck and chest with birdshot Saturday during a hunting trip at a South Texas ranch. He had been in stable condition in a Corpus Christi hospital since suffering a mild heart attack Tuesday after a shotgun pellet traveled to his heart.

Cheney took full blame for the shooting in an interview Wednesday with Fox News, his first public comments on what happened that day.

In his statement, Whittington said the past weekend had encompassed “a cloud of misfortune and sadness.”

“My family and I are deeply sorry for everything Vice President Cheney and his family have had to deal with,” he said.
Oh, that has got to stick in someone's craw that Whittington is sorry for what Cheney went through all week. Cheney was sorry for shooting his friend, and Whittington is sorry for what his friend went throuhg. Oh, the horror for the MSM. I'm sure Larry O'Donnell is fuming, especially with this quote from the sheriff's department in Texas: (via The New York Times)

Whittington ''explained foremost there was no alcohol during the hunt and everyone was wearing the proper hunting attire of blaze orange,'' reported Chief Deputy Gilberto San Miguel Jr.

In the same report from the Times, it's reported that the sheriff's department closed it's investigation without filing any charges. (ALERT Helen Thomas; the conspiracy's afoot!) In all seriousness though, we're happy to see Mr. Whittington leave the hospital and return to his normal life. We're hoping that the MSM will finally move onto a story more substantive (yeah right), and that we can move on from this incident which displayed far more of the pettiness of agenda-driven journalism than the "incompetance" they painted Cheney as having.
