Interpol Wants Us Watching For Bad Guys

Over the past month, twenty prisoners in Yemen have escaped prison, including the USS Cole bomber. They escaped via a tunnel, which led to, of all places, a mosque. A photo of those wanted is up a Michelle Malkin's site.

The Yemeni government is refusing to allow the US government a chance to interrogate the over 100 suspects being detained (Any wagers on how many of those people are connected with the mosque the tunnel led to?) This move I find understandable, but on a level I find it unacceptable. as well. One of the people in question committed an act of terrorism against the United States, and another man--Jaber Elbaneh--is a US citizen detained and being investigated for his connection to the Lackawanna Six which were nailed in New York State. All six men plead guilty to terrorism charges, and Mr. Elbaneh is one of them who is now on the loose.

Here is a larger picture of those wanted. Unfortunately, the languge the names and information are printed in appears to be Arabic.

This is not a good thing. Especially when it comes to the other news that Michelle reminds us of. The UAE (United Arab Emirates) have been handed a security deal by the NYC Port Authority. Below is an excerpt from the original NY Post. (And yes, I was surprised to see Sen. Schumer making a fuss out of the deal.)

Sen. Charles Schumer yesterday warned that terrorists could infiltrate the city's ports if a company from the United Arab Emirates is allowed to run the waterfront.

A ship bomb could be detonated in a port, and vessels could bring deadly arsenals into the country under the radar if port security were put in the hands of the Persian Gulf firm, Schumer said just days after it was revealed that Dubai Ports World will be in charge of the ports.

"Since 9/11, my motto has been to be careful, and this raises a whole lot of red flags," he said.

"Foreign control of our ports, which are vital to homeland security, is a risky proposition. Riskier yet is that we are turning it over to a country that has been linked to terrorism previously."

Schumer's terror warnings came as a company owned by the UAE government got a step closer to running the city's ports after shareholders in the London company P&O Steam Navigation yesterday approved Dubai Ports World's $6.8 billion takeover.

The deal will give the company responsibility for hiring security personnel, securing cargo coming in and out and securing facilities of six major East Coast ports including New York.

Two of the 9/11 hijackers were from the UAE and the FBI believes that some of the planning for the Sept. 11 attacks took place in the UAE.

Can anyone else see a nightmare scenario out of this deal? What happens if any of those men on that watch list end up here. The list itself looks a lot like the list compiled shortly after September 11th showing all nineteen hijackers. There are twenty men on that watch list, which gives me further pause.

I can just see the UAE "hiring" a few of these men as "security." At this point, with the amount of men that are involved in this prison break, I am left to wonder whether or not they had help from some higher-up officials in Yemen. I am not a conspiracy nut, nor am I a "chicken little," but I am concerned for the nation. We should all be concerned, and the government, hopefully, has taken extra precautions.
