A Specially Designed Hit-Piece That Only Moonbats Buy
The Boston Globe put out an interesting story today. And one could literally call it a "story"; as in the kind that belongs in the fiction section of any well-known bookstore.
DENVER -- A task force will investigate the religious climate at the Air Force Academy after reports of intolerance, including incidents of anti-Semitism, officials said yesterday.
It will assess Air Force policy and guidance when it comes to religious respect and tolerance, acting Secretary of the Air Force Michael L. Dominguez said in a statement.
The task force also will look into practices by commanders ''that either enhance or detract from a climate that respects both the free exercise of religion and the establishment clauses of the First Amendment."
A preliminary assessment is due by May 23, officials said.
The creation of the task force comes after complaints that evangelical Christians wield so much influence at the school that anti-Semitism and other forms of religious harassment have become pervasive.
Last week, Americans United for Separation of Church and State sent Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld a 14-page report based on a two-month investigation. The group said it talked with about 15 cadets and staff.
The report concluded that students, faculty, staff, and members of the chaplains' office frequently pressured cadets to attend chapel and receive religious instruction. Others said prayers were frequently conducted before official events.
Mikey Weinstein of Albuquerque, a 1977 graduate who has sent two sons to the school, applauded the formation of the task force. He has said his younger son has been the target of anti-Semitic comments.
''It sounds as though the Pentagon is talking the talk, and that is step one," he said. ''Step two is whether they can walk the walk. There are too many afflicted by the unconstitutional evangelical control of the Air Force Academy at this point to offer any premature optimism until we see some positive, comprehensive action."
The academy said it first learned of reports of religious intolerance in a survey of cadets that included 55 complaints. Some cadets accused evangelical Christians of harassing both Christians and Jews; some of the Jewish cadets said they were blamed for the death of Jesus Christ.
The Air Force said ''considerable efforts" have been made over the past several months to address issues of religious tolerance, including a new training program called Respecting the Spiritual Values of all People, or RSVP.
''This program encourages people to confidently and authentically live out their own faith and belief commitments and deeply respect others whose spiritual strength comes from a faith or source different from their own," Dominguez said.
''Such mutual respect is essential to the culture of the airmen."
This story is an absolute farce. First off, look at who this complaint comes from. Americans United for Separation of Church and State is a wacky Leftist organization that is doing everything in it’s power to drive Christianity underground, or attempt it’s outright obliteration. Now, I respect anyone’s choice of faith. And this what that is; a choice of what faith you believe in. No one is mandating it. But that report, as read by Hugh Hewitt—live on his show—makes that precise allegation, in addition to stating that there is a level of "religious persecution" going on at the academy.
And one of the primary parts of the report is a literal indictment of the Commandant of Cadets in forcing a religious address to the entire body of students. The commandant is a Protestant, but witnesses to the address called into Hugh’s show, and they beg to differ. The address the commandant made that the report questions was only made to the Protestant students. Later that day, a general assembly address made by him was different; it was secular. So, their primary gripe—supposedly their smoking gun—is a lie. The moment this fallacy is proven, which it has been, in my opinion, then the entire report is thrown into question.
There is no religious persecution going on at the Air Force Academy. That is patently preposterous. I personally know of sixteen close friends that over the last six years apply and were accepted into the academy. They would never tolerate such actions, and would stand up for anyone that was victimized by another over their faith. They have never spoken of such acts, nor do they have such a prejudiced bone in their body to exhibit such antipathy. The Americans United for Separation of Church and State is lying.
And there is a distinct possibility that the bias of this organization might simply be over the religious nature of the State of Colorado. The governor vetoed a bill that would have forced Catholic hospitals to provide abortions. Dr. James Dobson’s "Focus on the Family" Center is just up the way from the academy. And just on the other side of the academy sits the largest Christian church in Colorado.
There is more to the report than meets the eye, but that is not addressed. It lies within the bias of this organization; one in which does not even understand what the First Amendment’s Establishment Clause really means. They have hung their hats on the memory of known KKK member; noted racist, and anti-Christian/anti-Catholic Hugo Black. This judge did a great disservice to this nation with his misinterpretation of the First Amendment.
And were I the Secretary of the Air Force—the head man on the Joint Chiefs—I would request the president disband this task force, and go after Robert Weller—the author of this piece. Next I would go after the Americans United for the Separation of Church and State, and demand their proof. A report is not proof. I want affidavits. I want names. I want interviews. If they refuse to provide it, then you sue them. I know it sounds petty, but I am sick of these attacks.
Attacks left unanswered lead to further, and more sadistic attacks; I thought we learned this lesson on 9/11 after looking back at all the terrorist attacks left unanswered from the 80’s and 90’s.

Sounds like they went fishing and now they're telling us the fish was 'that big'. Thanks for bringing this to my attention!
Jen,
Anytime. We usually pick up on the fringe stories that most people don't pick up on regularly. I found it and forwarded it to her because I wanted her veracity that she brings out to speak on behalf of the troops.
Granted, they aren't "troops" yet, but they will be, and she'll not abandon any of them to the likes of the wolves the Left is content to release on them.
