Chirac Fiddles as France Burns
For more than a week now, we have been treated to watching France burn as Muslims around the country go on rampages at night. The excuses being handed down by the Muslim leaders is that their people have no choice but to react this way as they are being "mistreated." This allegation stems from what sparked these riots which was two youths being chased by cops were accidently electrocuted when they hid from police by a power substation. Angered by the accident, and blaming police, the youths took to the streets.
France was mildly in favor of our war on terrorism when we started out in Afghanistan. We had "legitimacy" for such a move as it was bin Laden, supported by the Taliban, that attacked us. We had a right to defend ourselves. But when the next phase becamse Iraq, they immediately abandoned that position. And once we actually did some digging through the files that Saddam kept, we see why. France had been doing business with the dictator for years, including supplying him with weapons he was not allowed to have. And France did not want their ties disrupted as Saddam still owed them quite a bit of money.
So, for Phase Iraq of the war, France took an appeasement position. They welcomed Muslims into their borders, but told them they had to assimilate to a certain amount of French lifestyle. This is not uncommon, but what was uncommon was the lack of attention to the Muslims, as a whole, in the lower, poverty-stricken neighborhoods where the Muslims and Africans were. This is a petri dish for those attempting to make recruits for their jihad. Inflaming rhetoric the likes of which Adolf Hitler would be proud has stirred these youths into a frenzy, and France cannot control it any longer.

Rioting by French youths spread to 300 towns overnight, and a 61-year- old man hurt in the violence died of his wounds, the first fatality in 11 days of unrest that has shocked the country, police said Monday.
As urban unrest spread to neighboring Belgium and possibly Germany, the French government faced growing criticism for its inability to stop the violence, despite massive police deployment and continued calls for calm.
Meanwhile, governments worldwide urged their citizens to be careful in France.
On Sunday night, vandals burned more than 1,400 vehicles, and clashes around the country left 36 police injured, setting a new high for overnight arson and violence since rioting started last month, national police chief Michel Gaudin told a news conference.
Australia, Britain, Germany and Japan advised their citizens to exercise care in France, joining the United States, Russia and at least a half dozen other countries in warning tourists to stay away from violence-hit areas.
This is not good for France. Not only for tourism, as countries clearly do not want harm to come to their citizens (of which I am sure a travel ban may be enacted to protect respective citizens) and this definitely cannot be good for their tourism industry. Worse yet, as the Breitbart story abovew states, some of this is starting to seep into other nations in Europe, as well. The difference is that depending on the nation, the response to such behavior could be quick, and possibly brutal.
And at this point, I am left asking where is the French response. Your country is burning to the ground. Last night marked day twelve in a row where police and military units cannot control the night. News reports state that the youths are using cell phones and Blackberries to communicate with each other, and coordinate their rioting. Two nights last week, the rioters ambushed police. The country is literally caving in on itself. And unfortunately, with Chirac at the helm, his next step may be even more appeasement instead of sending in troops, and restore order.
And yes, I have heard people state that the military or police cannot just walk in and open fire. Why not. These animals are firing on them, and firing on innocent people. They burned a handicapped woman. She did not die, but was hospitalized with severe burns over much of her body. One death is now attributed to the violence, the damage done thus far still has not been evaluated in terms of money.
Now to be fair, there are a few Muslim leaders that are calling for end to the violence. From FOX News:
The unrest erupted with youths angered over the deaths of Bouna Traore, 15, and Zyed Benna, 17, who were electrocuted when they hid in a power substation in the suburb of Clichy-sous-Bois.
Traore's brother, Siyakah Traore, called for protesters to "calm down and stop ransacking everything."
"This is not how we are going to have our voices heard," he told RTL radio, adding his voice to neighborhood groups working to stop the violence.
Dozens of residents and community leaders were stepping in to defuse tensions, with some walking between rioters and police to urge youths to back down.
Abderrhamane Bouhout, head of the Bilal mosque in Clichy-sous-Bois, said he had enlisted 50 youths to try stop the violence. "We've had positive results," he said.
What is more irritating than anything else is how the media is dealing with this. Most MSM newspapers are doing their best to keep the Muslim angle under wraps--buried within the story, or completely omitted altogether. I do not know why, as it is a fact of the story. Maybe they are playing the PC game, and are afraid to upset Muslims. It does not matter their rationale; they are not reporting the story regarding these riots fully and honestly.
And these riots will continue until Chirac grows a spine and takes back his nation. I would be thoroughly worried if I were in his shoes. He cannot control the streets at night, and the morning reveals the scars of the roving bands of Muslim youths that are running rampant. Breitbart reports (above) that this violence is now being sparked elsewhere in Europe. This is literally shaping up to be an all-out jihad in Europe. If this happens--if a jihad does break out--the "Old Europe" appeasers will condemn any actions taken to stop this violence, and will support those that are perpetrating these barbaric acts. And it will be a blow to our efforts to root these animals out, and beat them back.
