Ahmadinejad Flunked History, Apparently

The Jerusalem Post has the story about President Ahmadinejad's failed history exam. See, he is accusing Israel of acting like "Hitler."

"The Zionists think that they are victims of Hitler, but they act like Hitler and behave worse than Genghis Khan," Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Sunday. He was quoted by the Iranian News Agency.

Earlier, Iran denied Israeli claims that it had troops in Lebanon and that it helped Hizbullah to attack an Israeli warship, saying the guerrilla group could fend for itself without outside help.

OC Northern Command Maj.-Gen. Udi Adam said that Iranian troops are helping Hizbullah guerrillas fire Iranian-made rockets at Israel.

Adam said Israeli forces had identified Iranian troops.

"There are no (Iranian) guards there. Shipment of (Iranian) missiles to Hizbullah is also not correct," Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi told reporters Sunday.

Asefi also warned Israel that attacking Syria and expanding the conflict in the region would bring the Jewish state "unimaginable damages."

"We hope the Zionist regime does not make the mistake of attacking Syria. Expanding the front of aggression and attacks ... will definitely face the Zionist regime with unimaginable damages," Asefi said.

Israel said Saturday that 100 Iranian troops from the elite Revolutionary Guards were in Lebanon, and that they helped Hizbullah fire a sophisticated radar-guided missile at an Israeli warship blockading the Lebanese coast late Friday.

Initially, it was believed that an unmanned drone laden with explosives had hit the Israeli warship, but it later became clear that Hizbullah had used what Israel described as an Iranian-made, radar-guided C-802 missile.

Well, the only way to prove Israel's assertions that Iranians are among Hezbollah is to capture a couple, and get them to admit it. At The Asylum, WE believe that there are Iranians operating there.

As for President Ahmadinejad's statement, I am speechless. Hitler did not break the Munich Accords to protect Germany. He did not break his pact with Stalin to protect Germany. He did not invade Poland to protect Germany. Hitler broke his word, and invaded his neighbors and much of western Europe to conquer it. Hitler was not defending a single thing. Israel IS defending itself.

I would like to ask President Ahmadinejad what his response would be if Iraq were to do to Iran what Hezbollah has done to Israel? If Iraqi soldiers went over the border, killed eight Revolutionary Guards, and kidnapped two others? Anyone doubt that his reaction would be the same as Israel's? I did not think so. So, where does he get off making such a wild, pathetic, and utterly laughable accusation as that one?

I suppose in a convoluted and polluted way of looking at things, he could see his fantasy vision there that Israel was acting as aggressive as Hitler did. (The only similarity I see at all is the professionalism and skill of the soldiers on the field of battle; it is the leadership that drives that though, and Prime Minister Olmert is hardly acting like a conqueror.)

Someone might want to tell President Ahmadinejad to keep his Hitler analogies under his turban. We, in America, have learned that such statements comparing Hitler to anyone is a bit uncouth and uncalled for. Even if they seem like a tyrant (no, your parents do not count), it is best to stay away from such an inflammatory statement.

Istm (It seems to me) that Mahmoud Ahmdinejad makes outrageous statements, comparing Israel actions to Hitler, knows that his comment will go around the world, is speaking to those that believe the holocausts never existed. Or he's trying to rally support of those supporting supporting him and his jihad. He's another two bit politician that needs support for he knows that there are those in and outside Iran that will dispose of him and Ali Khamenei, the head muslim cleric. Let it happen. Iran and much of the world knows it can rule the middle east with nuclear weapons. Imho, Israel has no interest in ruling the middle east and all it wants to left alone in safety. Her neighbors should see that but Jihad pure hatred is powerful. Israel, to survive, must defend herself and at times that means taking the offensive. Rawriter
