Threats From The Left Confounded By Logic
After the primary races last night, I took to the blogosphere and began to formulate my thoughts regarding Lieberman's defeat at the hands of Ned Lamont. For the record, Lieberman filed his paperwork this morning. He will be in the race in November as an independent. And let me just toss this ice, cold bucket of water on the Left's celebratory bonfire: The prognosticators are already saying that Lieberman will win in a three-way race. Maybe they should have held back on popping those corks until after the election night in November?
But Dean Barnett, who is guest-blogging over at Hugh's site, pointed to a diatribe arising from Michael Moore's mouth that should send a shiver down the backs of the Democrats this year, though he is hoping for something different:
Let the resounding defeat of Senator Joe Lieberman send a cold shiver down the spine of every Democrat who supported the invasion of Iraq and who continues to support, in any way, this senseless, immoral, unwinnable war. Make no mistake about it: We, the majority of Americans, want this war ended -- and we will actively work to defeat each and every one of you who does not support an immediate end to this war.
Nearly every Democrat set to run for president in 2008 is responsible for this war. They voted for it or they supported it. That single, stupid decision has cost us 2,592 American lives and tens of thousands of Iraqi lives. Lieberman and Company made a colossal mistake -- and we are going to make sure they pay for that mistake. Payback time started last night...
P.S. Republicans -- sorry to leave you out of this letter. It's just that our side has a little housecleaning to do. We'll take care of you this November.
Anyone catch that in the first paragraph? "who supported" and "continues to support"? Anyone get the gist of that? It's a threat. Veiled, or clear-cut (to me it's the latter) it's a threat to ANY and ALL Democrats running for reelection that are still standing with the troops, standing behind the mission at hand, that the moonbat fringe will come out of the woodwork, and do their best to make sure they lose. THIS is today's Democratic Party on the march. They're virulent. They're vitriolic. Dean Barnett cites that "It’s the new Democratic party – uninhibited and apparently unmedicated."
They are on the loose, and they are ginning themselves up for the next round. They're going to unleash everything they have in one enormous orgasmic release in cleaning up their house; in essence, dumping anyone who doesn't follow the democrat ideology in lockstep. This is the new Democrats, and they're the same old retreads from the 1960's and 1970's. Make no mistake that after the Lieberman loss, these people are emboldened. They are organized, motivated, and completely unhinged.
But this sort of rhetoric emanating from those seen as leaders in the party is not going to win on Game Day in November. Such talk is going to turn off the majority of their base, and those people are going to prove it at the ballot box. This November is going to be very hard on the Democrats. They can point to Lieberman's defeat, but it's a moot point. Do you know why? Because in Georgia last night, Cynthia McKinney--an unhinged Democrat who accused the president of having foreknowledge of the 11 September attacks--lost her primary race against Hank Johnson. I know people are scrathing their heads about this one, but bear with me.
McKinney was an embarrassment to her party. Her numerous run-ins with Capitol police. Her repeated accusations of racism. And, of course, her stance on the war. They, the people of the Fourth Congressional District of Georgia, tossed an antiwar Democrat in favor of a guy that's a lot like Joe Lieberman. I think the Left, with Michael Moore leading the vanguard, just overestimated their real power. All I know is November is starting to look bad for Democrats, and a bit better for the GOP.
