The Liar Spins, Or How Mary Mapes Sees "Rathergate"
Mary Mapes was interviewed by Good Morning America, and she is still delusional. Below is a partial transcript of the interview. The question that starts this off is does she still thinks the story (the TANG story involving Pres. Bush) is true.
MAPES: The story? Absolutely.
ROSS: This seems remarkable to me that you would sit here now and say you still find that story to be up to your standards.
MAPES: I'm perfectly willing to believe those documents are forgeries if there's proof that I haven't seen.
ROSS: But isn't it the other way around? Don't you have to prove they're authentic?
MAPES: Well, I think that's what critics of the story would say. I know more now than I did then, and I think -- I think -- they have not been proved to be false yet.
ROSS: Have they proved to be authentic, though? Isn't that really what journalists do?
MAPES: No, I don't think that's the standard.
Nice. So the onus falls to us to prove her wrong, again. Follow the link below because Charles Johnson put this together no too long ago. It is similar to the flash media available on Little Green Footballs, but this is in an actual post today. And remember that this flash media is the most damning evidence to show that Mapes and Rather lied, and knowingly used phony memos.

Poor Mary Mapes really thinks that journalists should not have to prove something is authentic. I am sure that is just wonderful for other journalists to hear. Now, according to Mapes, they can print any lie they choose, and it falls to us to prove them wrong. Well, that is what bloggers have been doing for quite some time. The problem is that no media outlet wants to hold their journalists accountable. Yes, Mapes was fired, Rather was forced into early retirement, and both are looked at as nuts by mainstream America. But, it took weeks of spinning and covering before CBS finally stepped up and admitted that they, Rather, and Mapes had been wrong.
Their own independent investigation concluded that they could neither prove the memos to be fake or authentic. Of course, anyone who follows the link to Charles' site above, and still hold to the CBS/Rather spin is a certifiable moonbat. It does not take much intelligence to know that these memos were faked, but Mapes still believes the story to be true. She has no facts to back it up, even though she is still futiley clings to the memos.
There is no truth to her assertions that the president was AWOL. And honestly, the story holds no water to begin with. The Vietnam War was over thirty years ago. It was John Kerry who was running on his war record, not the president. The president ran on his current war record as commander-in-chief of this nation. The media latched onto Kerry, and compared him to the president from a time period that was irrelevant. We, as bloggers, made it relevant when Kerry refused to address any issue other than his war record. And then we hung him on lie after lie.
He proclaimed he was in Cambodia in '68, and claimed he had been sent there by Nixon. Nixon was not president in 1968. And we were not formally involved in Cambodia until AFTER Nixon took office. He claimed he received three purple hearts for wounds received in combat, yet his own boat-mates contended that at least two were self-inflicted; not directly, but through stupidity. His medals attracted attention when he had a listed medal that was mislabled--that particular medal did not exist. And we hung him every time he told these lies. The president never told a lie during his campaign. Had he done so, as the intellectually-honest people that we are at the Asylum, we would have hung him just as quickly.
But Mary Mapes needs help. No, do not send her here. Our Asylum is full right now, and she needs professional help that we cannot provide.

Good blog. Mapes is a proven liar with an agenda I fail to why anyone would believe her. Dan Rather should have had his wings clipped when he produced the intentionally false and inflammable "The Wall Within." Kerry is also proven liar when he lied under oath before a Senate committee and his military service. The public should scorn these people and have nothing to do with them. Rawriter.
