Welcome to the Asylum. This is a site devoted to politics and current events in America, and around the globe. The Opinions Of The Masses

That is how I refer to the vast majority of bloggers and regular people having a fit at the New York Times now, and rightly so. It is not everyday (or it used to not be) that a major news outlet in America would do so much to hurt this nation.

Michelle Malkin has a stellar round-up of those same masses, including this one from The People's Cube. I think it sends precisely the prefect message about the New York Times. Please, click the link, and have a look at it.

We have already received a couple of e-mails accusing us of being the "moonbats" in question, referring to Thomas's post about an hour ago. The point of his piece was to show that even the WaPo understood the nature and necessity of this program. But to the New York Times, this is an unforgivable breach of "privacy" that everyone across America with a computer or a New York Times at their doorstep should know about. The public does not have a right to know about any program that is classified which our government is using to keep this nation from being handed another 9/11. The New York Times does not seem to understand this.

They claim that there is no bias in this reporting, however given the gravity of their reporting over the last several months, one is left questioning that boast. Their inherent bias is precisely, and obviously so, against the administration for its continuing efforts. Whether their true intent was to do harm to this nation is irrelevant; by their very actions, they are doing precisely that. They cannot claim any sort of innocence in this. There can be no "We're just reporting the news "excuses coming from them. Their reporters were handed classified information, and they chose to run it.

I join Thomas not only in calling for the charging and prosecuting of both reporters and Bill Keller, but also that the government sees such prosecution through. He is correct. First Amendment rights concerning the press are completely immaterial in this sort of situation. It does not protect them from being charged under 18 USC 798, and they should be prosecuted to the furthest extent of the law.

When the President, during war and we are at war, asks the Newspaper, for sake of national security, to refrain from printing a story and the paper does so anyway, I can conclude that paper supports those that wage war against us or that the paper wants to personally attack the President personally. This is not the first time the New York Times have intentionally breached national security. It's time that the matter is presented to a grand jury seeking criminal indictments against the NYT's and their subsidiaries, Bill Keller, NYT's editor, reporters and whoever leaked the story. Breaching National Security is not protected by freedom of the press. They have crossed the line one too many times. Rawriter
