BREAKING NEWS: I Sure Hope Their Reporting Is Better Than Their "Fauxtography"
Yes, I', poking fun at Reuters because this breaking news states that Iranians have been found amidst Hezbollah dead:
Members of Iran's Revolutionary Guard have been found among Hizbollah guerrillas slain by Israeli forces in southern Lebanon, Israel's Channel 10 television reported on Wednesday citing diplomatic sources.
It said the Iranians were identified by documents found on their bodies, but gave no further details on how many were discovered or when. Neither the Israeli military nor Hizbollah representatives in Beirut had immediate comment on the report.
Iran, like fellow Hizbollah patron Syria, insists its support for the Shi'ite guerrilla group is purely moral.
Israel says many of the rockets being fired against its civilian and military targets are Iranian made, and that Hizbollah fighters taking on its forces trained in Iran. Washington also accuses Tehran of actively funding Hizbollah.
Iran's Revolutionary Guards are traditionally very close to fellow Shi'ite Muslims in Hizbollah and were deployed in south Lebanon in the 1980s.
IF this report is true, then this war went from being between Israel and one nation's terrorists to a full-blown regional conflict. The only way I found this report was through The Drudge Report. But I did say "if." Now, let's move onto the next step. Let's say that this is true. Iranian troops found in Lebanon should be enough of a kick in the backside for Olmert to finally take the gloves off. Not only should Hezbollah be given no quarter, but Israel's response to the discovery should be swift and decisive.
Target Iran's nuclear facilities, and take them out.
This war is about to expand, and it's not going to get any prettier. If I were Lebanon, I'd be cursing Hezbollah right now. The chances of an end to Israeli retaliatory fire and bombing raids is gone. Cease-fire? ROFL! Think again. This is a big discovery for Israel, and it shows the world that Iran's resident, Mahmoud Ahamadinejad (who just finished up an sit-down with Mike Wallace) is a liar.
He told the world that Iran was not helping Hezbollah. They weren't supplying or resupplying them. Well, I would say that having one's own troops amongst another's enemies constitutes "help." Ahmadinejad's got some 'splaining to do, but the Israelis may not give him a chance to utter a word before they strike.

UPDATE: 6:05 AZ Time--Hezbollah PR guys are denying that there are any Iranians found. Israel is sticking by it's story, and who their people identified through the papers they had on them.

Update: 7:13 p.m. AZ Time--Here in the link to their denial:
"Hezbollah categorically denies the lies and claims that the enemy is promoting that Iranian fighters are present in the confrontations with the occupation forces," the pro-Iranian Lebanese guerrilla group said.
Israel's Channel 10 television earlier cited diplomatic sources as saying members of Iran's Revolutionary Guard had been found among Hezbollah guerillas slain by Israeli forces in southern Lebanon.
It said the Iranians were identified by papers found on their bodies, but gave no further details on how many were discovered or when.

Right. And I'm the friggin' tooth fairy. We told the world that Iran was behind this, but the world decided that America was delusional again. And here we have Iranian troops in Lebanon. Of course Hezbollah is going to deny that they have ANY Iranians working within their ranks. To do so would be selling out the hand that feeds them. They won't do it, and it's going to force Israel to present their evidence. Only then will the world pipe down.
And I do agree with Captain Ed that the chances of this conflict escalating towards extended hostilities with Iran, are slim. Olmert would have to get pretty p***ed to do that. I don't know if Israel really wants to do that. All I know is if they want this monkey off of their back, they need to strike--quickly and decisively. Iran has to be taught a bit of a lesson, and a rolled-up newspaper knocking their nuke facilities off the chessboard might just do the trick.
