Quick Thoughts Today

I thought I might come online and give a couple of links out to those interested in some news today ...

Charles Johnson of Little Green Footballs continues on the "Fauxtography" crusade for the blogosphere. This time, it is all about multi-use buildings. The same building that appeared in reports from July 24, 2006 and August 5, 2006. This brown-and-white building in the photos has seen a lot of action, but the Israelis cannot seem to knock the thing down. (I ought to be be fairly easy; a target is literally drawn on it.)

Michelle Malkin touches on Hezbollah in America, and the media still contiues to yawn about the real threats in the nation. What is positively worse than that is the fact that HOMELAND SECURITY does not appear to grasp their "mission" just yet. This was precisely the reason why the Department of Homeland Security was created. And yet each time things like this occur--where we locate people aiding and abetting our enemies--we walk them through the three-ring bureaucracy. I think, on the subject of Hezbollah, America needs to be reminded that Hezbollah IS A PROXY from Iran. Iran recruits, trains, arms, and dispatches Hezbollah. Which brings me up to Thomas's post regarding the Iranian soldiers found dead in Lebanon; this shows that we now have a new factor in this war. Iran is now firmly caught in the middle of this, and this cannot be good for them when it comes to the levying of sanctions.

Alone, without any of the nuclear shenanigans, they might be able to withdraw, and bury the discovery. But Iran knew that they were being watched BECAUSE of their earlier, tattered record regarding world relations. This story cannot be allowed to be buried. Israel maintains their story; Hezbollah naturally denies it. I am apt to believe the Israeli government in such an assessment rather than the word of lackies of the regime they were just solidly connected to.

Der Spiegel blows the lid off of Iran's secret work on their nuclear program. Captain Ed does a thorough job explaining the implications of this revelation. Everyone knew that Russia and China were cozy with Iran. But I doubt anyone expected his much "nudge-nudge, wink-wink":

Despite claims to the contrary, leaders in Tehran are apparently still pushing forward with research into uranium enrichment with the aid of laser technology. A Russian engineer recently told SPIEGEL that Iran has received help from his countrymen with a program that uses a laser system to divide heavy isotopes. The engineer, who works for an institute near Moscow and helps develop nucleaar reactors, claims that Iranians have since 2004 sought and secured technical aid from Russia for their domestic "laser system for the division of heavy isotopes" program.

The laser technique would have important advantages for Iran. Uranium is often enriched using gas centrifuges, but the laser technique uses less energy, requires less space and yields more of the crucial materials -- Uranium 235 and Plutonium 239. Until now, though, the technology has been elusive for Iran.Until now, though, the technology has been elusive for Iran.

The nation organized a team as early as 1974 to develop a laser system, according to the trade journal Jane's Intelligence Review. In 2000, Tehran turned to Russia for the first time, requesting technological help from the Jefremov Institute in St. Petersburg. Three years later -- in a letter dated August 19, 2003 -- the government told the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) that experiments in this direction had been discontinued.

But an exile group called the National Council of Resistance of Iran has claimed -- again -- that the work hasn't stopped. They say research is moving forward at the Parchin military complex, south of Tehran, a claim that appears to be corroborated by the Russian engineer's claim.

As if Iran needed this headache right now, right? (Yes, I am being facetious.) This is precisely what was needed to help push the sanctions issue on Iran. This is advanced technology that without it, they could not have moved so far, so fast.

Sondra K has the cure for what ails the United States right now. And while Thomas and I prefer Sydney and Vaughn, we will never turn down the extra set of "professional" hands. Jack is always welcome.

Preston at Six Meat buffet comments on a few moonbat protesters in Britain. Even the Communist Party of England was represented there. Ah, nothing says "we care" more than a totalitarian regime bent on conquering the world with its bloody ideology.

And in closing this edition, Fiar at Radioactive Liberty has an EXCLUSIVE interview with a real, unliving Casper. Fiar sits down with our favorite Communist dictator to mock, Fidel Castro.
