Ukrainian Butchers: Murdering Newborns For Their Stem Cells
This story makes me want to retch:
Healthy new-born babies may have been killed in Ukraine to feed a flourishing international trade in stem cells, evidence obtained by the BBC suggests.
Disturbing video footage of post-mortem examinations on dismembered tiny bodies raises serious questions about what happened to them.
Ukraine has become the self-styled stem cell capital of the world.
There is a trade in stem cells from aborted foetuses, amid unproven claims they can help fight many diseases.
But now there are claims that stem cells are also being harvested from live babies.
We know the stem cell debate is still raging, and the battle lines are clearly drawn. On one side are people who would like to see embryonic stem cells researched for their possible potential. Private industry is trying to do that, and they have plenty of supporters who want to see our government foot the bill for it. On the other side--the side we sit on--we believe that the adult stem cells hold far more benefits than embryonic ones do. Over 100 different treatments have been developed for a variety of diseases with adult stem cells.
But if the above is true, and it appears that it might be, at what point do we draw the line when it comes to research? Murdering healthy newborns for their stem cells is absolutely sickening. This goes in the direction the Nazis did; especially with the experiments of Josef Mengele. His experimentations on twins int he concentration camps would sicken even the strongest of stomachs.
If this is the price that society has to pay for researching this particular hypothesis, then the price is too high. I do not want to hear ANYONE defending this practice. Abortion makes me sick. This is positively barbaric, in practice. We do not, as a civilized society, condone such actions. And anyone who does--that defends the outright murder of innocent children--needs to be killed themselves. We do not sacrifice the most innocent amongst us in the name of science.

When I read this story, my thoughts were one of disgust and anger. It seems to me, much of this world remains uncivilized. When I say I marvel at the advancement of technology and medicine, that does not include killing babies. I would have no objection that the people involved in this barbaric activity be permanently sanctioned. Rawriter.
