Welcome to the Asylum. This is a site devoted to politics and current events in America, and around the globe. A Pox On The Jolly Mark Steyn, So Says CAIR

It's a "special" day here at the Asylum and we're kicking it off with this bit of news that was picked up by Little Green Foiotballs last night. Mark Steyn, our most favorite author, honked off the Muslims, and the Canadian branch of CAIR has issued a fatwa on him:

The Canadian Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-CAN) is asking all people of conscience to write to Maclean’s Magazine.

In the October 23rd issue of Maclean’s, a provocative and Islamophobic article by Mark Steyn was printed entitled, “The future belongs to Islam.” The article’s fear mongering tone focuses on the influx of Muslim immigrants into Europe and North America through an analysis that parallels Samuel Hungtion’s [sic] infamous book, “The Clash of Civilizations.”

An excerpt from the article reads:

“Age + Welfare = Disaster for you; Youth + Will = Disaster for whoever gets in your way... Islam has Youth and will, Europe has age and welfare.”

In criticising the Maclean’s article, Derrick O’Keefe writes, “Seen within the “War on Terror”... Steyn’s article must be understood as a deliberate, hateful and provocative act.”

ACTION REQUESTED
1. Write a 150 word letter to Maclean’s Magazine for print.

2. Or submit a two to three paragraph letter to the Maclean’s editorial board.

When writing it is critical to keep Maclean’s readership in mind and maintain a style that is calm and convincing, but firm.

TALKING POINTS
1. The article entitled “The Future belongs to Islam” is inflammatory and offensive. It does little to build bridges, it simply divides people.

2. It would be appreciated if such provocative articles are not given space and if Maclean’s maintains a balanced editorial policy.

3. Maclean’s in the past was an authoritative and respectable voice for Canadians; however, today’s Maclean’s is clearly breaking away from this tradition.

4. If Maclean’s Magazine continues to publish such articles, I will consider not renewing my subscription.

By comparison, the fatwa is mild. It's not calling for his head (yet; give them time), but they are using the typical tactics that the Islamicists always use when they run across people who disagree with them. Ban them. Censor them. Do anything and everything so the Islamicists won't be offended. This is a problem, and it's high time someone around the world tells them "NO," and backs it up. Europe has seen that "NO" doesn't really work, and it's because they refuse to back it up.

To win this war we need more than just force, strategy, and tactics. We need the force of will to defeat our enemies, and show them that we're not going to kowtow to them for any reason, and at any time. Only then will we find the way to defeat them. Remember, these people have been at this for centuries, and we've barely begu the long trek in this war. Already politicians and diplomats want to call "no joy," and head home.

There is no homecoming until these animals are defeated.

I feel slighted that no fataw has been proclaimed on me! At least another country had a price on my head. But then I'm not the writer that Mark Steyn, Spencer or The Asylum are. I vow to try harder to attack the terrorists. I will make fun of them. I will insult them. I will lol at them. I will point out those 76 virgins are taken. I'll expose Mohammad, the moon worshipper. Will I make them mad? I hope so and then I will get a fataw! Rawriter

We do so love the serial posting moonbats with irrelevant information. And no, that doesn't apply to Raw who is one of our biggest supporters.
